Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route

Tourist spot

Japan is rich in nature.
Among them, “Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route” has many scenic spots.
This is a sightseeing route that can only be seen here.

Transfer to nature-friendly trolley buses and cable cars.
There you can see places where you can feel the strength of nature as follows.
“Snow Wall” where you can feel the beauty and strength of snow.
“Kurobe Dam” is a powerful water discharge.

Snow Otani

The first thing I want to recommend is “Snow Otani”.
Tateyama Murodoira, with an altitude of 2450m, is one of the world’s largest snowfall areas.
By removing snow from the road, you can create a snow wall that spans about 500m.
Its height is 20m and it is very powerful.

The alpine route will open in mid-April.
You can enjoy the dynamic snow wall until late May.

Murodo Terminal

The second recommended sightseeing spot is Murodo Terminal.
This terminal is located at a high altitude.
There are restaurants, a tea lounge and an observation terrace.

A beautiful view of Tateyama can be seen from the rooftop observatory.
You can also see a fantastic landscape created by the setting sun.

Mikurigaike Pond

Next up is “Mikurigaike Pond”.
It features a beautiful crater lake that is a symbol of Murodo.
This area is about 30,000 square meters, 15m deep and 631m around.
The largest and deepest pond in Murodo.

From July to October, the magnificent figure of Tateyama is projected on the surface of the pond.
Its beauty attracts tourists.

The walking course around “Mikurigaike Pond” is a course that advances along the way while appreciating alpine plants.
It can be swept in about an hour and a half and is popular with tourists.

Kurobedaira Garden

Next is “Kurobedaira Garden”.
It spreads in front of Kurobedaira Station at an altitude of 1,828m.
Free admission.

This is a scenic spot where you can overlook Kurobe Lake and Mt.
Many people take a commemorative photo because there is a promenade where you can enjoy magnificent scenery.

The Takayama Botanical Garden is right next to the garden.
About 100 kinds of alpine plants are planted along the promenade and bloom from June to September.

Kurobe Dam

The last thing we recommend is the Kurobe Dam.
Completed in 1963 by 10 million people.
Japan’s largest arched dam.
The height is 186m, which is the highest in Japan, and the length of the bank is 492m.

Water discharge of over 10 cubic meters per second is a masterpiece.
